Have you ever heard of Da Shuhua? It’s a traditional performance that is usually given during big festivals, like the Lantern Festival and the Spring Festival. It means “creating tree flowers”. People show it by throwing hot molten iron (熔化的铁) against a cold wall. Upon the wall, the molten iron would explode (爆炸) into thousands of sparks (火花), looking like flowers raining down. The molten iron is about 1, 600℃. It’s so dangerous and one may easily get hurt, so, it’s also called “the game of the brave”.

In ancient times, poor people couldn’t pay for expensive fireworks (烟花). Then they found that with the heated iron fell on the ground, it could create the similar scene of fireworks. With a lot of experiments, they finally created Da Shuhua and it soon became the way for poor people to celebrate important festivals.

Actually, no other place has Da Shuhua, except in Nuanquan, a village in Hebei Province, and there are only four performers left there. What makes matters worse is the fact that most of them are over the age of 40.

Wang De is the youngest performer among them. He took up learning Da Shuhua from his father at age 15. Though he has been hurt several times, his love for it has never faded. He even has a deeper love for it than before. Wang De hopes Da Shuhua, one of the most valuable cultural treasures of China, will become known to more people. “When I was young, I thought it was exciting. Sometimes animals are so badly injured (受伤的) that common medicine cannot help them. However, animal lovers can still come to save them. In Brazil, a group of them use their knowledge of medicine and computer technology to create man-made body parts for those injured animals.

The technology is called three-dimensional (3D) printing, which can create all types of objects from a cup to a toy truck. It takes a lot of plastic. Now, a Canadian company has solved this problem. It has invented the ProtoCycler, which can turn waste plastic, such as bottles, into plastic that can be used in a 3D printer.

Last year, the Brazil team used 3D printing to help a poor tortoise (陆龟), Freddy. A forest fire had burned 85% of her shell (), the hardest part of her back. In other words, her shell was nearly gone. The whole team worked together to save her life.

First, they took photos of Freddy and of a healthy tortoise with a complete shell. Then, they used a computer program to design a new shell that would fit her exactly. Later, a 3D printer created the new plastic shell. After that, the finished shell was attached (贴附于) Freddy’s body. The new shell fit well, but the white plastic did not have a natural look. Finally, an artist painted the shell so that it looked like a real one. The results were very fantastic. Freddy now lives with the people who helped save her life. She led a happy life after she was saved.

第二节 阅读表达(共 5 小题;每小题分,满分 10 分)

阅读下面短文,简略回答问题。

Life is not always easy, and there may be difficulties from time to time. But no matter how hard things are, there is always a way out. Staying hopeful and never giving up can help solve problems better.

Have you heard of the saying “The glass is half full.”? It means seeing the good side of a situation. If a person says “the glass is half empty.”, he may pay more attention to the bad side of a thing. You should always hold the positive (积极的) attitude because this positive attitude gives you the courage to keep going when you face trouble in daily life.

It is not always easy to stay happy and positive. Everyone may feel worried, angry or sad sometimes, and that is very common. However, having a positive attitude is helpful to people’s health. It can improve people’s health by making them feel happier and sleep better.

What’s more, when you believe that problems can be solved, you will not feel so nervous. The calmness makes it easier for you to overcome difficulties. The brain works better when it is not clouded by fear and worry. For example, imagine you are about to act in a school play. If you worry about forgetting your lines, you might make mistakes. However, if you believe you will do well and focus on the joy of performing, you will be likely to act much better. A positive attitude acts like a shield (盾牌) against stress.

In short, a positive attitude is like a key to success. It not only keeps us healthy and happy, but also gives us the strength to face challenges.

71.What can help solve problems better?

72.What does the saying “The glass is half full.” mean?

73.How can a positive attitude improve people’s health according to the passage?

74.When does the brain work better according to Paragraph 4?

75.When you feel worried or nervous, what will you do to keep positive? (Your answer should be different from the information in the text.)
