Question 1:
我自己创业,所以可以自己选择工作时间。我几乎总是9点开始工作,然后在4点左右下班(I run my own business so I can choose my own hours. I nearly always begin work at 9 and then knock off at round 4)。
Question 2:

语言风格:
语言简洁,多为日常或工作场景中的表达,使用了一些固定短语和习惯用语,如 “have a clue”(有些许线索/了解)、“tend to do”(倾向于)、“make an appointment”(预约)等,句子结构相对简单,但细节较多。
考察重点:

在扫读四个选项过程中锁定关键词及逻辑,发现选项涉及主体(few/many people, he, his speech, attendance),原因(spoke badly, topic not interesting),结果(few people…sat through [his speech], many people … talking,attendance…poor)。据此推测该statement涉及听众对He的演讲的反应与如此反应的原因。听的时候重点留意哪个主体(who)发生了哪一事件(what),以及事件的因果关系(why)等细节。
一般说来,关键词涉及主题词、动作,以及时间、地点、原因、转折等逻辑词。锁定关键词、理解并预测原文相应逻辑是听力、阅读解题的关键,因此需要大家在解题实践中反复揣摩、验证,得出适合自己的一套方法。
备考建议:
就听力层面来说,statement作为基础题型需要大家夯实听力基本功。建议利用复述的方法训练此题型,即在平常训练时根据个人情况将原句拆分,如Question 8: Just between you and me, // the amateur actress who came to audition yesterday is shortlisted // and has made an appointment to see the director next Monday。
平时依托教材中的Statement题目练习,逐步复述,而后整合,完成整句的复述,并提高流畅度。长期坚持这一训练可强化注意力、提高听力敏感性与口头表达流利度,进而大幅提高语篇听力水平,乃至听译水平。
此外,语音方面,尤其要注意训练连读与吞音的朗读与听力理解,如qualified accountant、doesn’t have、got loads of money、the same outfit、and that’s why、a big project or an exam等。
